TheGEOMET® was developed by DACRAL S.A., manufacturer of DACROMET®, as an alternativechromfrei.

TheGEOMET® is a thin non-electrolytic aluminum gray coating used to protect steel, cast iron or other ferrous metal parts against corrosion.

TheGEOMET® consists of flakes of zinc and aluminum in an inorganic matrix.

The application ofGEOMET® don't causeno hydrogen embrittlement. Cold dipping in an aqueous dispersion or spraying is used as a method.

Difference GEOMET® 321 / GEOMET® 500 = lubrication:

TheGEOMET® 500 contains PTFE throughout the entire thickness of the coating, which ensures controlled lubrication: 0.12 ≤ µ average ≤ 0.18 (measurement according to Renault standard 01.50.005/--C and ISO 16047).

TheGEOMET® 321 is not lubricated. Lubrication may need to be provided by an additional layer of the familyPLUS® .

Features of GEOMET® 321 / GEOMET® 500:

  1. ANDNO HYDROGEN FRAGILIZATION : In combination with sufficient pre-cleaning of the parts, the electroless application does not cause hydrogen embrittlement. GEOMET® is therefore well suited to protect safety parts and leaf springs.

  1. RESISTANCE TO AUTOMOTIVE FLUIDS: The test according to the VDA 621-412 standard for resistance to fuels, diesel, engine oil, organic solvents, coolant and brake fluid shows that GEOMET® has satisfactory resistance. The coating is also resistant to 24 hour immersion in brake fluid at 20°C.

  1. DUCTILITY: the ductility is sufficient for the elastic deformation of springs, clips, etc.

  1. ELECTRICAL CONDUCTIVITY : the conductivity of GEOMET® is sufficient for most applications.

  1. HEAT RESISTANCE: The GEOMET® coating retains its mechanical properties at least up to a temperature of 300°C, which is necessary for its formation.

Special tests are required for applications above 300°C. Its corrosion resistance to the salt spray test is demonstrated by pre-tensioning the parts, e.g. B. not changed

  1. hours at 180°C.

  1. VARNISH POWER: GEOMET® can be painted. The adhesion test of the adhesive tape after screening is not suitable due to the lamellar structure of the coating.

  1. COATING BREAKTHROUGH: The cold dipping process allows the entire surface of the parts to be covered, e.g. B. Screws with captive washers, clips, pins, tubes.

  1. RESISTANCE TO BIMETALLIC CORROSION: GEOMET® has an excellent behavior with aluminum and zinc. It is equal to other layers of zinc in contact with copper, stainless steel or magnesium.

Zones d'application:

GEOMET® can be used for metal parts of all kinds in all areas of industry. It is particularly suitable for coating fasteners. In the automotive and truck industry, manufacturers' specifications must be adhered to; In areas of activity where there is no specific standard, the ISO 10683 and ISO 13858 standards can be used, which indicate the requirement levels.

Environment and recycling:

GEOMET®, chrome-free, is a coating derived from water-based products and is free of

Harmful substance. It meets the requirements of European legislation on recycling, in particular directives 2000/53/EG and 2002/95/EG. In addition, the product, in the form of an aqueous dispersion, promotes compliance with legal requirements in terms of gaseous emissions.

Technologies d'application :

GEOMET® can be used on existing DACRO METISATION® installations. The principle of application is as follows: application of a damp yarn m by dipping or spraying, followed by baking at 300°C.

DACRAL S.A. recommends several application techniques:

  • Hardened centrifugation for bulk materials:

After cleaning, the parts are immersed in the GEOMET® bath, and centrifugation removes the excess product. The parts are then placed in an oven at 300°C to form the coating.

  • Injection for bulk parts:

After cleaning, the parts are bulk loaded into a special spray application system. The technique works well for nuts and socket head screws.

  • Hardened Desiccant Centrifugation for Accessories:

The parts are hung on swings and then follow a cycle similar to that of bulk goods.

  • Pneumatic or electrostatic spraying:

This technique is suitable for parts that only require external protection.
