For class 10.9 steel assembly elements (with a tensile strength Rm ≥ 1000 N/mm², representing a hardness ≥ 320 HV) and more, having an electrolytic coating, and which are put under stress, a risk of rupture by hydrogen-induced embrittlement exists.

Heat treatment (degassing) of the partsafter treatment electrolytic reduces the risk of breakage.an eliminationtotal of the risk of hydrogen embrittlement cannot, however, be guaranteed.

If the risk of hydrogen embrittlement must be 100% eliminated, other coating processes (such as DACROMET, GEOMET, etc.) must be taken into account.
