The domed washer is used to properly fix and tighten the wooden planks of the seat and back of a bench on two circular cast iron frames. The nuts then have a better seat. This is a bench from the beginning of the last century that I had sanded and stripped (frames and planks). I repaired the cracks and gaps in the wood due to the age of the bench and replaced the corroded screws with new screws. I can send you photos if necessary. The last step will be repainting.
