These stainless steel retaining rings serve as axle supports: I weld the retaining rings in alignment onto a fairly thick steel plate so that I can then slide on an axle with a slightly smaller diameter. This is for a project involving adjustable depth wheels. In my case: a 26mm diameter retaining ring for a 25mm diameter axle. This allows me to make robust, custom-made hinges. I'm trying to adapt the tapped hole with a grease fitting.
